Our mission · Verda Global Limited

We're building the intelligence layer for Arabic.

Arabic carries a rich intellectual heritage and a living world of expression. We want technology to help people understand its structure, meaning and context with greater depth and care.

Lisaan is where we begin: intelligent, curriculum-guided education. Qalam AI is our developing specialised Arabic intelligence engine and research initiative behind that ambition.

Technology & research · developing

Qalam AI

Working toward deeper Arabic intelligence: from word structure to meaning in context.

Today’s tutor combines structured curriculum, server-side safeguards and external AI providers. The specialised engine is still in development.

A learning loop, not a blank chat box

From a new word to a clearer understanding.

Qalam’s role is to help you practise what you’re learning, with the lesson providing the boundaries.

01 / Discover

Begin with a lesson

Explore its objectives, vocabulary, grammar and examples. Know what you’re practising before you start.

02 / Practise

Put Arabic into words

Answer Qalam within your selected lesson. Use text, or supported voice and writing tools where enabled.

03 / Understand

Learn from the response

Read an explanation, recognise what worked and retry what needs attention. Revisit your own saved practice history.

Structure gives practice a purpose

A curriculum you can see.
A companion that works within it.

Lisaan connects the lesson, the practice and the feedback. Each session works with the vocabulary, grammar and objectives of a selected lesson.

Published foundations

Madinah Arabic · Book 1

Three introductory lessons covering identification, questions and simple descriptions. Open published lessons in any order and return for revision.

Pilot content — under review

Madinah Arabic · Books 2 & 3

Lessons 1–3 of each book are available to authenticated Students as editorial pilot content. Source, Arabic and rights reviews are pending; this is not a fully reviewed course.

The catalogue also includes Al-ʿArabiyyah Bayna Yadayk. Substantive editorial pilot lessons are labelled under review; empty lessons remain Coming soon. Broader coverage is still in development.

A wider horizon · long-term ambition

Beginning with learning.
Looking beyond the classroom.

Our long-term vision reaches into Arabic reading, research, classical texts and developer tools. These are directions we want to investigate, not products available today.

Read with depth

Explore how language-aware tools could help readers navigate meaning, structure and context.

Research with care

Investigate trustworthy, source-grounded support for research and classical Arabic texts.

Build in Arabic

Work toward tools that could help developers build better Arabic-language experiences.

For learners, our starting point is a useful learning experience. For prospective research, funding and technology partners, it is an invitation to help shape a thoughtful Arabic intelligence agenda.

Explore the research & partnership vision

Built with intention. Shared with honesty.

An early product, with a clear direction.

Our ambition is broader than today’s product. Here is what works in Lisaan now, what has controlled availability and what remains planned research.

Working MVP

  • Student accounts and structured Arabic lesson views.
  • Curriculum-aware text Qalam with explanations, corrections and retries.
  • Private practice history and self-reported lesson review records.

Implemented, controlled availability

  • Voice, handwriting and notebook-photo input tools.
  • Guided conversations and independent everyday-Arabic scenarios.
  • Limited Quran Reader and reference audio, subject to access and licensing controls.

Availability varies during the pilot.

Roadmap & research

  • Broader reviewed curriculum and deeper learner support.
  • Teacher-supported review workflows.
  • Pronunciation and Quran recitation assessment, requiring specialist validation.

Planned capabilities are not available product features.

AI feedback is tentative learning support. It can make mistakes and does not certify proficiency, pronunciation or mastery.

A few helpful answers

Before you begin.

What is Qalam AI?

Qalam AI is our developing specialised Arabic intelligence engine and research initiative. Today, Qalam tutoring in Lisaan uses external AI providers with structured curriculum and server-side validation. Morphology, syntax, contextual semantics, classical Arabic, trustworthy source-grounded explanations and adaptive learning are research directions, not claims of completed or independently validated capabilities.

What is Lisaan?

Lisaan is a curriculum-grounded AI Arabic learning platform. Structured lesson objectives, vocabulary and grammar give Qalam context for practice, explanations and retries. The current product is an early MVP, not a complete Arabic programme.

How is Qalam different from an open-ended chatbot?

Qalam receives the selected lesson’s curriculum and your practice context. Its Arabic responses are checked against the lesson boundary before they are saved. These safeguards reduce scope drift; AI feedback can still be mistaken and is not a guarantee of correctness or mastery.

Which lessons can I try?

The first three Madinah Arabic Book 1 lessons are published and can be studied in any order. Authenticated Student accounts can also access six editorial pilot lessons: Lessons 1–3 of Books 2 and 3. Those lessons are labelled ‘Pilot content — under review’; Arabic, source and rights reviews remain pending. Empty lessons are marked Coming soon.

Can I speak, write or use a notebook photo?

Text practice is the core experience. Voice, a handwriting whiteboard and notebook-photo tools are implemented, with availability varying during the pilot. Photo and handwriting interpretations can be reviewed before assessment. Guided voice and standalone scenarios are in gradual rollout and may not yet be available when you try Lisaan.

Does Lisaan grade Quran recitation or pronunciation?

No. A limited Quran Reader with reference-audio tools is implemented behind access and licensing controls. Automated Tajweed, Makharij and pronunciation grading are not available. Speech transcription does not prove pronunciation correctness.

What happens to my practice?

Signed-in practice sessions and answer history are private to your account. They help you review feedback and retry. The implemented audio and image flows do not persist raw recordings, drawings or photos by default. AI processing uses external providers whose retention policies also apply.
